John P. Maldonado

John Maldonado is in his second year as an assistant band director at Claughton Middle School in the Spring Independent School District. His responsibilities include teaching beginner percussionist, saxophone, bassoon, and low brass, as well as managing the Claughton Drumline, directing the Concert Band and Varsity Band, and assisting the Symphonic Band.
Mr. Maldonado is a graduate of Westfield High School and Sam Houston State University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. During his time at SHSU, Mr. Maldonado performed in the Wind Ensemble( performing at TMEA in 2013), Jazz Ensemble (performing at Midwest Clinic in 2014), Symphony Orchestra, Bearkat Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, and other small chamber ensembles. His primary teachers/mentors include: Dr. Matthew McInturf, Dr. Brian Gibbs, Dr. Lane, Trent Cooper, Victor Flowers.
His professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.
